eConnect receives NEN 7510 certificate
Proud moment! In the middle of the summer holidays, we officially received our NEN 7510 certificate from Marco Bijl, director of the audit organisation Digitrust. This marks a successful conclusion to the project that colleague Chris de Rooij has been busy with for the past few months. And it’s a great follow-up to our previous ISO27001 certification which we already obtained in 2018. Update May 2024: our ISO27001 and NEN 7510 certificates have been renewed.
What is NEN 7510?
The NEN 7510 standard was developed by the Netherlands Standardisation Institute for information security in the healthcare sector in the Netherlands. To work with healthcare clients, you must meet strict requirements to ensure the security of patient data. NEN7510 is strongly based on the guidelines of ISO27001, the most well-known and popular information security standard. It describes how information security should be managed, with the goal of ensuring the confidentiality, availability, and integrity of information within an organisation.
Why a NEN 7510 certificate?
Chris explains why the NEN 7510 certificate is so important for eConnect: "In addition to our ISO 27001 certification, the NEN 7510 certificate takes our information security to an even higher level. This standard is specifically aimed at securing healthcare information. This way, we can handle and secure this sensitive information in an appropriate way. For the healthcare sector, this standard is a key indicator of how an IT supplier handles information security."
What does this mean for your organisation?
By obtaining this certificate, we show our customers that we are not standing still when it comes to information security. "We are always looking for ways to improve, even in this area. More specifically, for customers whose healthcare information is processed through the invoicing stream, two-factor authentication will be activated. This helps our customers bring their entire IT landscape to the same level of information security," Chris says proudly. "In addition, the NEN 7510 certificate means that our information security management system will be subjected to more frequent and thorough external and internal audits. This also benefits the quality of the software!" Chris adds.
