How to top up your eConnect credit via iDEAL | Wero, Bancontact or automatically.
eConnect works with prepaid transaction credit. Each processed invoice that was not manually created and sent on the platform is deducted from your balance. Insufficient balance? The platform then blocks all API connections (SOAP and REST) and only administrators can still log in. Manual invoicing, Peppol reception and email processing continue to work. It is therefore important to top up your credit in time.
Note: Only an environment administrator with access to a payment environment can manually top up credit.
The fastest way to top up your credit is via iDEAL | Wero. The credit is available immediately after payment.
Click My environment in the side menu and open the Pay and top up tab.
Select the desired top-up amount. With higher amounts you benefit from bundle discounts.
Optional: enter an order reference number if that is needed or useful for your administration.
Click Top up and complete the iDEAL | Wero payment. There is no minimum amount.
Don't have access to iDEAL | Wero or Bancontact? Contact Customer Support to request an authorisation form.
Belgian customers can top up their credit via Bancontact. This works the same as iDEAL | Wero: choose the amount, pay and your credit is available immediately. Bancontact can also be used to set up automatic direct debit.
iDEAL is gradually being rebranded to Wero, the European digital wallet of the European Payments Initiative (EPI). Since early 2026 the co-branding "iDEAL | Wero" has been active; by the end of 2027 the name will be Wero entirely. Wero is active in Germany, France and Belgium; the Netherlands follows in 2026. In time, Wero will enable cross-border payments in the eurozone. For eConnect customers nothing changes: iDEAL | Wero works the same way as before.
Want to prevent your balance from running out unexpectedly? Set up automatic top-up via My environment > Edit > Automatic top-up. The platform calculates your average daily usage over the past 100 days and tops up automatically when the credit is insufficient for the coming 20 days.
When you set up automatic top-up, a small mandate of € 0,01 is collected via iDEAL | Wero or Bancontact to verify the payment details. After verification everything runs automatically: you receive an invoice after each collection.
Don't have a physical bank card or card number? Under Create new mandate, the QR code is the intended self-service option. Verification remains a payment of € 0,01. A physical bank card is not required.
With public-sector banks (including BNG), the QR or banking-app flow often does not work the same as with consumer banking. In that case request a digital mandate form via Customer Support. After signing, support activates the mandate and automatic top-up. Automatic direct debit or automatic top-up remains available on Basic. An upgrade to Professional is not required for this. Professional is relevant for other options, including pay on account, not as a condition for the SEPA mandate.
If an automatic direct debit fails, you as account administrator receive an email with a notification. You can then top up the credit manually via iDEAL or Wero. The status of all direct debit mandates and executed collections is visible in the platform.
From the Professional subscription you can also top up by invoice ("pay on account", also searched as top-up by invoice or top-up by means of an invoice). The minimum amount for pay on account is € 100. The credit is added immediately; the invoice follows afterwards.
With the Basic subscription (and Invoice Portal), pay on account is not visible. Equivalent routes without an upgrade:
No iDEAL | Wero or Bancontact (bank or account type)? Refer explicitly to the agreement/mandate route via Customer Support, not only to iDEAL self-service.
Do you only want to send invoices and no longer receive invoices (for example to prevent further balance charges)? Per identifier, turn the Receive off toggles off while Send on stays on in the organisation settings. Only sending then stays active, without new incoming invoices charging the balance further.
A negative balance blocks all API connections (SOAP and REST) and restricts login to administrators. Manual invoicing, Peppol reception and email processing via the Email Receiver continue to work. The cost of a received invoice is at most € 0,341, so top up at least that amount (about € 0,34) extra above the negative balance. Topping up to exactly zero is not enough: the top-up invoice itself arrives and puts the balance negative again. € 0,68 is an example after such a top-up to zero, not a fixed minimum. Otherwise the topped-up amount is consumed immediately by the incoming invoice for this top-up and the blocking cycle starts again.
Automatic sending (API, email, SFTP or a standard connection) costs at most € 0,171 per document. Conversion from digital to electronic (PDF or photo) costs at most € 0,512. Manual sending via the platform is free. A contract or bundle can be lower than the maximum rate. These are existing maximum prices, not a new rate.
Note: Refund of prepaid credit is not possible (in accordance with the General Terms and Conditions).
Yes, Belgian customers can top up their credit via Bancontact. This works the same way as iDEAL | Wero: choose the amount, pay and your credit is available immediately. Bancontact can also be used for automatic direct debit.
With higher top-ups you receive bonus credit: 5% at € 100, 7,5% at € 400, 15% at € 1.000 and 25% at € 6.000. The bonus is added directly to the credit and lowers the effective cost per transaction.
You receive an email with a notification as account administrator. You can then top up the credit manually via iDEAL | Wero or Bancontact. The status of all direct debit mandates and executed collections is visible in the platform via My environment.
No, remaining prepaid credit cannot be refunded. This is set out in the General Terms and Conditions of eConnect.
If you receive the notification that your environment has been temporarily blocked due to a negative balance, the environment administrator must top up the credit via My environment > Pay and top up. That can be done via iDEAL | Wero or Bancontact. Once the balance is positive again, the block is lifted automatically and the reminder emails stop. Then set up automatic top-up to prevent this in the future. Not every user has administrator rights. Not sure who the administrator of your environment is? See Roles and permissions.
Do you receive these automatic balance-block emails repeatedly while you no longer manage the environment, or does logging in or topping up fail? These are not incident notifications, but repeated alerts for as long as the balance remains negative. Contact the actual environment administrator, or restore your own platform access first.
Do you use an outbound ERP connection (for example AFAS) and invoices did not go through during the balance block? "Resend" in the ERP alone does not always fix that. Workaround: export the XML from your source package and upload it manually via Sales invoice → New invoice on the platform. See Create and send an invoice. Support does not export invoices on your behalf from AFAS or another ERP.
No. Pay and top up (Pay & Recharge) is only for topping up your transaction credit, not for activating an organisation. If you do not yet see an organisation in your environment, this message is not relevant: go to My environment > Add organisation, choose your organisation and click Activate now. See Add and activate an organisation. If you have an Invoice Portal subscription, this message is even expected: Invoice Portal has no prepaid credit and therefore no top-up payment methods.
A top-up invoice (also for an automatic Bancontact or iDEAL/Wero direct debit) is always an eConnect platform invoice, not an invoice from a third party via Peppol. The original invoice is in the Inbox on platform.econnect.eu, on the invoice date. If you no longer have active platform access, you do not need to log in first: Customer Support or finance@econnect.eu sends the requested invoice directly as a PDF copy by email. Want to arrange notifications about new documents yourself, or automatic forwarding to a fixed email address? That does require a working account: restore your access first, then set up notifications for new documents.
No. Credit card payment is not available for invoices that eConnect itself sends, such as a platform invoice or an Add-on GLN invoice. Pay by bank transfer to eConnect International B.V.:
iDEAL | Wero and Bancontact on this page are for topping up credit, and sometimes for activation. That is not the same as settling an outstanding eConnect invoice. Do not use this IBAN for a separate activation payment of € 0,01. That route remains iDEAL | Wero, Bancontact, or the manual activation invoice.
The eConnect Platform works with prepaid euro credit. Document bundles belong to PSB, not to this credit.
The PSB API has no public rate and no self-service to view or top up a document bundle. The rate per sent invoice depends on the partnership. Sending costs of a PSB API customer are not deducted from this Platform balance. Do not send a PSB customer to this top-up page for document bundles.
