Peppol International Invoice (PINT): the global Peppol standard for e-invoices with region-specific variants.
PINT (Peppol International Invoice) is the international invoice profile of Peppol, designed to standardise e-invoicing worldwide. While BIS Billing V3 is primarily aimed at Europe, PINT offers a framework that works for all regions where Peppol is active.
PINT, like BIS Billing V3, is based on the semantic model EN 16931 and uses UBL 2.1 as its syntax. The difference lies in the design: PINT was created as a modular framework with a core specification (PINT Global) and region-specific extensions.
Each region can define its own PINT variant that aligns with local legislation and regulations, without deviating from the core. This makes it possible to send invoices using the same base standard to receivers in Japan, Singapore, the UAE or Europe.
PINT EU (example):

Each regional variant has its own DocumentTypeId, composed of the PINT base identifier followed by the region code.
BIS Billing V3 and PINT exist side by side. The key difference:
In the long term, PINT EU will likely succeed BIS Billing V3 as the European standard profile. Until then, both profiles are supported on the Peppol network.
In some regions, PINT is coupled with a Tax Data Document (TDD). This is a separate tax reporting document that is sent alongside the invoice to the tax authority. The UAE (TDD AE) is the first country implementing TDD via the Peppol network. Oman follows the same model with TDD OM. Slovakia also uses a TDD (TDD SK, version 1.0.0 published by OpenPeppol AISBL on 27 May 2026), but Slovakia has no PINT variant: the invoice format is Peppol BIS Billing v3 (Bisv3), not PINT-SK. See E-invoicing in Slovakia.
OpenPeppol published the PINT Billing Q2 2026 release (v1.1.3) on 8 June 2026 — a minor maintenance release without breaking changes. The release is mandatory for all Service Providers from 7 September 2026; the Q4 2025 release remains the only permitted version for production traffic until 6 September 2026.
Changes:
For eConnect customers nothing changes: the PSB supports the new version as of its publication.
The eConnect PSB supports PINT Singapore (PINT-SG) as a production-ready variant today. The other PINT variants (PINT EU, PINT Global, PINT A-NZ, PINT Japan, PINT Malaysia, PINT AE, PINT OM, PINT UK) are on the roadmap; activation follows based on customer demand and network readiness in the respective region. Slovakia runs outside PINT via Peppol BIS Billing v3 (Bisv3) plus TDD SK.
Customers with a specific need for a PINT variant can discuss timing in the onboarding call.
BIS Billing V3 is the established European Peppol profile, while PINT is designed for global scalability with region-specific variants. Both are based on EN 16931. In the long term, PINT EU will likely succeed BIS Billing V3 as the European standard profile.
For PINT Singapore: no. The eConnect PSB automatically transforms between BIS Billing V3 and PINT-SG. For other PINT variants (EU, Global, A-NZ, Japan, Malaysia, AE, OM, UK), support is roadmap work; discuss your requirements in the onboarding call. Slovakia uses no PINT variant at all: invoicing runs via Peppol BIS Billing v3 (Bisv3) plus TDD SK.
A TDD is a separate tax reporting document sent alongside the invoice to the tax authority. This is used in regions with real-time tax reporting, such as the UAE. TDD SK version 1.0.0 was officially published by OpenPeppol AISBL on 27 May 2026. The PSB handles TDD reporting automatically.
